HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PUPPY ?
THE BULLY’S DEVELOPMENT
Read more
First, we must take into account that fact that all puppies, regardless of breed, have malleable bones for the first few months of life.
The bones, which are growing quickly, are only connected by the developing joints.
So, in order for the puppy to develop properly, you must be sure they get the right amount of exercise.
THE BULLY AND EXERCISE
Read more
The Bully is a dog breed characterized by a heavy and thick bone structure.
In order for it to develop sufficient robustness to support its weight, it is necessary to limit its physical activity until around 15-16 months for larger models (XL-XXL) and until 12-13 months for smaller ones (Micro/Pocket).
However, it is important to allow the puppy to explore its environment beyond the family garden while still protecting it. Therefore, we recommend limiting its moments of total freedom to around 15-20 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day.
Intensive sports activities such as cani-cross, spring pole, hang time, bike running, and others are absolutely discouraged.
They could cause irreparable damage to your puppy, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, problems with the alignment of the front legs, which can lead to arthritis in the long term and are not aesthetically desirable.
Preserving your puppy's health is your main goal if you want to enjoy the company of your Bully for as long as possible and keep it aesthetically pleasing.
It is also important to consider the environment in which your puppy evolves in order to preserve it as much as possible.
Avoid slippery surfaces like smooth tiles, stairs (even a few steps can be harmful in the long term), and also avoid letting it climb up and down the couch, even if it may seem like a caring gesture, it gradually damages its joints.
You can also find dietary supplements online to promote good growth, but it is important to follow the recommendations mentioned above.
These supplements contain chondroitin and glucosamine, chondroprotectors, and you can discuss them with your veterinarian for additional advice.

How to feed your puppy ?
As soon as your puppy arrives, you'll want to go to the pet store and buy a bag of the kibble they recommend.
As a new puppy owner, you'll probably follow the dosing instructions on the packaging.
However, this is not the right approach. Why not ? Think of that friend we all have who can eat three pizzas a week and all the desserts they want without gaining an ounce, while you gain weight after just one fast-food meal.
That's because we're not all built the same, and neither are dogs.
So how can we assume that the same quantity of kibble from a certain brand would be appropriate for all puppies that should reach a certain weight by adulthood ?
You might ask us how you can figure out how much your puppy should eat. We'll tell you that you'll get to know their metabolism the same way you do for yourself.
You can start by looking at their belly after each meal. Your puppy should be full, no longer hungry, and have a visually rounded belly.
Then, as an adult, you can ration their food. While your puppy is growing, they can afford to have a little fat in reserve, on which they will draw to grow to their full potential.
An adult dog needs a stable weight and a trim figure to stay healthy.
If you want a healthy dog, choose a quality kennel rather than focusing solely on their food.
Muscular development is a genetic trait of the Bully that can only be achieved through careful selection by the breeder.
SHOULD YOU FEED YOUR DOG USING THE BARF, RAW OR PREY MODEL DIETS ?
You've probably already heard of raw feeding (raw meat, organs, fatty fish, etc.). This is a very strict feeding method, and quite complicated to achieve without risking irreparable deficiencies as you try to make your dog happy.
We don't recommend this diet for the American Bully, which generally has complicated tastes.
You risk creating a serious deficiency in vitamins or nutrients essential to their growth if you let them select their food from the bowl, or fail to follow the dosage of each food precisely.
It is best for your puppy to eat puppy food.
And if you wish, you can switch them to raw meet as an adult.
THE BEST DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS FOR YOUR PUPPY'S GROWTH

As mentioned above, you can give your pet a mixture of chondroitin and glucosamine in powder or capsule form to strengthen their joints (please consult your vet to choose the right supplement).
We also recommend using fish oil, preferably salmon oil, which is rich in Omega-3s and 6s, essential for a shiny coat and toned skin, and reduces shedding during petting.
You can also supplement your dog’s diet with calcium capsules available from your vet, or use a traditional method : add dried eggshell powder to their bowl every day.
WHY ARE HEALTH TESTS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR PUPPY ?
FOR THE OWNER

Everyone wants a healthy puppy so that you can enjoy your time together, right? The same applies to the years to come.
We conduct genetic health tests on our breeding stock in order to select the best possible mating pairs and guarantee stability and longevity for your dog.
Anyone who buys a puppy wants to keep them around as long as possible.
We recommend that you take a look at these health tests, which are not required, but are conducted systematically at all professional kennels.
FOR THE BREEDER

We conduct these tests both to guarantee a healthy puppy and in the interest of the breed.
Not every puppy in the litter, no matter how beautiful, is born to reproduce.
Most of them will go to families, and become wonderful companion dogs.
And only a few, those with the best genetic results, will join the ranks of a kennel to continue their line, helping to perfect the breed.
IS THE AMERICAN BULLY A FAMILY DOG ?
THE AMERICAN BULLY'S PERSONALITY
Read more
The Bully, as its name suggests, is rough around the edges. It's true that they have rather coarse personalities.
But that doesn't make them any less of a great family dog.
The Bully was not created with a specific function in mind, like the Belgian Shepherd, the Labrador, the Doberman or the Jack Russel, which are all working dogs, bred to complete a specific task, which unfortunately is very hard to erase from their instincts to make them true family dogs.
When you spend time with Bullies, I guarantee you'll fall deeply in love with this breed. They are strong and robust enough to play with your 17-year-old boy, and at the same time gentle and cuddly enough to be your 4-year-old daughter's best friend.
BODY TYPES OF THE AMERICAN BULLY ?
American Bullies have several body types.
Let's start with the smallest, the Micro/Pocket.
This breed is quite broad and difficult to classify into a specific group of dogs.
According to the American Bully Kennel Club, the standard Pocket is less than 43 cm at the withers for males and less than 40 cm for females.
Under 33 cm, they belong to the micro category in the canine world.
Then there's the classic/standard Bully, which measures 43 to 51 cm for males and 40 to 49 cm for females.
The subtle difference between a standard and a classic lies in their features, with a more Terrier-like appearance for the classic and slightly more molossoid for the standard.
Finally, there's the XL, often mistaken for a pit bull.
However, it's important to note that a Bully must have the proper bone structure, a round, broad head, bursting torso and H-shaped structure that distinguish it as a Bully, a breed in its own right.
The XL measures 51 to 57 cm for males and 48 to 54 cm for females.
Any size above that is considered XXL, but is not officially recognised by the breed registry
COLOURS OF THE AMERICAN BULLY ?
The color palette in this breed is extensive, offering a wide range of choices to our customers who are passionate about exceptional hues and animals.
Single colors
Discover the basic color of each shade, black, also known as "black", very popular in type XL because of its feline appearance, which we also call the "Black Panther".
- Fawn is described as a sand-colored coat with a black mask on the muzzle, sometimes partially covering the eyes.
- Fawn blue, a sandy coat with a blue mask, introduces another nuance.
- Blue, visually described by customers as dark gray, results from the dilution of the color black.
- Chocolate, another dilution of black, presents a hue similar to chocolate with a matching truffle.
- Champagne, a sandy color with no mask on the face and a pink or liver truffle. Lilac, a very light silver, is a dilution of chocolate.
- Pied bal, comparable to the color of a cow, with a white background and large patches of color above.
- Brindle, a basic coat that can be blue or black with sand-colored markings (actually representing the basic color of the coat).
- White or all-white, a white coat with or without pigmentation on the nose (pink or black).
- Hundreds of tiny flecks of chocolate, lilac, blue or black in the background, called "ticked", can sometimes be found on white.
- Ticked is not a color in itself, but an adjective attached to a hue. For example, tricolor lilac ticked refers to a tricolor lilac dog with flecks on the white parts of its coat.
On the white, you can sometimes find hundreds of little flecks in the background in chocolate, lilac, blue or black, which we call "ticked". Ticked is not appropriately a color, but an adjective that we give to a color, for example: tricolor lilac ticked, this is a tricolor lilac dog with flecks on its white parts. Which brings us to the colors we love here at the kennel.
The tricolors
Tricolor is a color called "tan" in other breeds, such as the Doberman or Rottweiler. It's a dominant color that covers the back, part of the legs, part of the head and tail, with a more or less light saddle that forms a well-defined mask on the face at eyebrow, mouth and lower legs, with a white chest.
- Tricolor black, the dominant color is black and the mask is sand-colored.
- Tricolore bleu, the dominant color is blue and the mask is sand-colored.
- Tricolore chocolat, the dominant color is chocolate and the mask is sand-colored.
- Tricolore Lilac, the dominant color is Lilac and the mask is sandy.
The merle and its nuances
Merle is a new color that many private individuals are currently very keen on, but it has to be worked on very scrupulously.
In reality, it's not a color, but a pathology that our breeders are able to control, but which is not within the reach of just anyone. It is absolutely not dangerous for the dog when you know how to work it, which is also its beauty.
It's a small or large spot of color that appears on the dog's coat as if it didn't have to be there. It doesn't look like any other color, because it isn't, and it can appear on any of the coats I've described above.
What is a pedigree? ABKC, FBKC, ETC.
A pedigree is a record, otherwise known as a book, of the generations preceding your dog.
It brings together all the individuals in the breed in a single register, so you can find them if you need to.
These registers give each individual a birth certificate from birth, known as a pedigree. They're a bit like family record books, where the whole family tree is listed.
It's imperative to have a pedigree when you buy your puppy, or in the weeks to come, as it's the registry's proof that it's a dog belonging to the American Bully breed.
